This reminds me that everything is entwined, and that when we tell ourselves we are "compartmentalizing", all we are doing is avoiding the interconnectedness of life. Our inner talking is a mental conveyer belt that can deliver hurt and resentment from the past into our lap in the present, but that same mental time "portal" can lift the hope of our future into the presence of today.
