"Perhaps the search for truth is a process of letting ourselves be unfolded in truth rather than the more common belief that truth is an object—something we can possess, something we can use against others. The truth will set us free only if we let it penetrate into our hearts, which means that the veil that separates our heads from our hearts is being torn." [Jean Vanier, founder of L'Arche]
Often we see truth as something quantifiable and actionable, but the reality is that truth is often less tangible and more of a feeling of "rightness". Truth lies in having compassion for ourselves and for others. When we allow the "veil that separates our heads from our hearts" to be torn, we begin to find room in our hearts for truth, and we direct our intellect to making more "rational" decisions, once governed exclusively by our heart.
